About the role…
As US Accountant, you will “own” day-to-day bookkeeping and month-end close activities for multiple small-business clients (generally < $2 million in annual revenue) in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. You’ll leverage firm-standard project templates in QuickBooks Work to deliver seamless onboarding and recurring service experience while collaborating closely with Senior Accountants and Client Managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing
- Classify and post all bank/credit-card transactions to appropriate income, expense, asset, liability, and equity accounts
- Maintain Undeposited Funds and prepare accurate QBO Bank Deposits from cash receipts
- Enter vendor bills, customer invoices, and credit-card charges when required
Reconciliations
- Perform timely bank and credit-card reconciliations
- Reconcile loan balances (principal vs. interest schedules)
- Reconcile prepaid-expense and fixed-asset subledgers to the GL
Subledger & Schedule Maintenance
- Build and update supporting schedules for prepaid amortization, fixed assets (capitalization, monthly depreciation, sales/disposals), and loans
- Track payroll accruals and reconcile books to quarterly 941/940 and state payroll returns
Month-/Quarter-/Year-End Close
- Prepare balance-sheet account reconciliations (including inter-company, clearing, and suspense accounts)
- Post year-end retained-earnings entries to settle owner contributions & distributions
- Generate management-ready financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash-Flow)
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure books are audit-ready and align with GAAP and firm quality-control standards
Client Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Communicate open items, unusual transactions, and proposed adjustments to senior team members
- Suggest process enhancements and automation opportunities within QBO apps / workflows
Qualifications / Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive bookkeeping/accounting experience
- Demonstrated mastery of full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple entities under $2 million revenue
- Proven ability to manage concurrent client deadlines in a 100 % cloud environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable explaining accounting concepts to non-accountants
- Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Work / QuickBooks Practice Manager (project templates & task queues)
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, x and v-lookups, basic macros a plus)
- Familiarity with common QBO add-ons (Bill.com, Gusto, Melio, Clockify, etc.)
